don't  tempt me guys,  I will not watch the movie till after I read the book... Just the way I am.. :)

But its on my must read list.

Another disaster/survival flick I loved was when NYC and most of the earth was under ice water... Loved it... was it "the day after" or something like that.

Hope I can find it in the $5 bill at wal-mart.

Here's another for you......

The barometric pressure goes hand in hand of what our weather is......the records were a high of 32.01 on a clear day in Siberia, and was very, very cold.  The low was 25.69 during a typhoon.

My question, what causes the pressure to be within these limits?  What would cause it to deviate out of the limits significantly?  Is it based on the composition of gases in the atmosphere, along with water vapor, and temperature?

And being the diabolical villain that I am, what could I do to affect the barometric pressure, and bring down the wraths of weather I deem upon you all?

Can you imagine sitting out on your deck after supper, the weather is gorgeous and all you hear is the sound of those freakin' turbines going around and around and around and around.

If we drill all over like some want, suck the oil from the earth, living big potholes down there.....will the earth eventually collapse?

I think it's a good idea that people know what they're in for before they have those wind thingiemabobbers put on their land. Reply...

After doing some research it appear that current belief is that the core is made of enriched gold, platinum, and other siderophiles

J. Marvin Herndon, is the one who put the "georeactor" theory out there. It is not accepted in the science industry. There have been proposed experiments however TO DATE, NO EXPERIMENT HAS BEEN PERFORMED. This experiment would involve measuring the antineutrinos flux.

Yes, according to his hypothesis the magnetic field is generated and maintained by the nuclear reactions at the earth.

Anyways 2012 doomsday wouldn't matter because, the way his it works would basically ensure a never ending supply of fuel. Reply...

There is NO nuclear reactor at the center of the Earth. The temperature is no where near what is needed. Reply...

Computer simulations of a nuclear reactor in the Earth's core, conducted at the prestigious Oak Ridge National Laboratory, reveal evidence, in the form of helium fission products, which indicates that the end of the georeactor lifetime may be approaching. Reply...

""There is a massive nuclear reactor at the very center of the earth""

Oops! That would be the center of the SUN, not Earth.

So what your saying is, these experts are telling us that we need dump all of our uranium in the core of the earth? LOL.

INTERESTING THE SCIENCE OF H2O.  IT TAKES CENTURIES OF TIME TO TRAVEL FROM SCANDINAVIA TO BATHE ENGLAND.  A COUPLE OF MILLENNIA FOR A SNOWFLAKE TO FINALLY CLEAVE INTO THE OCEAN.

NEWTONS LAWS OF PHYSICS

  • First Law: "An object in motion will stay in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an external force" or "A body persists in a state of uniform motion or of rest unless acted upon by an external force."

  • Second Law: "Force equals mass times acceleration" or "F = ma."

  • Third Law: "To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

What will happen  once the earths core solidifies.

Simply put, Mars inner core became solid, lost its magnetic properties and all living being on the planet died. The planet today is a red desert.

Can it happen to earth? Experts are saying it is actually happening to earth right now. There is a massive nuclear reactor at the very center of the earth that keeps the core liquid. But Uranium reserve it that core is running very low and will sooner or later depleted. As the rectors will lack fuel, the core will solidify. The loss of resulting magnetism on earth’s surface will extinct all living beings.

The effect according to some scientists will take its hold in a significant way starting from 2012.

Actually I would be more concerned with all the weight we are sending into space (shuttles, satellites, etc) which isn't that great to begin with. Most of the fossil fuels we burn (gases) end up being re-absorbed by the earth in one manner or another. So the actual mass does not change.

Furthermore being space the spinning would only slow if there was some friction from an out side space. Things in motion stay in motion until acted upon by an opposite force. Which is absent is space, except for other bodies of mass.

How bout the transfer of the weight causes the Earth to unbalance and wobble. Try that one out... Reply...
